Dadvash Hashemi, director of procurement support for oil goods, said localizing production, building up domestic manufacturers and supporting new technology-based firms are central to the company's plan for a stable supply of goods and equipment.
Hashemi said the company is pursuing a steady supply of strategic and sanctioned goods by expanding domestic production, localizing equipment, developing the capacity of Iranian manufacturers and tech firms, and making full use of legal provisions, including first-time production. The goal is to reduce dependence on foreign sources.
Domestic manufacturing is no longer limited to simple parts, he said. Localizing technologically complex equipment, including drilling gear, precision instruments, rotating machinery and process equipment, is also on the agenda.
He said the company's approach goes beyond simply buying from domestic suppliers. The aim is to manage the supply chain strategically by identifying strategic needs and bottlenecks, pooling demand, helping local manufacturers improve their technical know-how, strengthening manufacturers and knowledge-based firms, expanding domestic production and guaranteeing a market so that goods needed for safe and continuous output are reliably supplied.
The strategic list has been finalized, Hashemi said, and has been approved by the Council for Steering Knowledge-Based Technologies and Products, which he described as the highest legal authority on the matter.
He named these items as strategic:
- Corrosion-resistant alloy (CRA) pipes
- Drilling rigs
- Measurement-while-drilling (MWD) equipment
- Rotary steerable systems (RSS)
- Skid-mounted equipment
- Specialized petrophysics and geophysics software
- Smart systems for integrated reservoir and data management
- Gas turbines
- Downhole gas compressors
- Drones for platform inspection
- Mobile multiphase pumps
- RSBV valves
- Seamless tubing
- Explosion-proof LED lights
- Pressure, temperature and level transmitters
- Oil fluid separators (MOS)
- PDC drill bits
Asked which items can be made domestically, Hashemi said a considerable range of the company's needs is already met by Iranian manufacturers. He listed:
- Drilling and production equipment, including bits, wellhead and well-completion gear, and drill pipe
- Rotating equipment, including pumps, compressors and turbocompressors
- Static and process equipment, including tanks and heat exchangers
- Mechanical equipment, including industrial valves and sealing gear
- Electrical and instrumentation equipment, including transmitters and electrical panels
- Chemicals, including catalysts, drilling additives and anticorrosion materials
Hashemi said his department is also identifying key goods and major equipment needed in the short, medium and long term. The aim is to draw up a comprehensive supply plan that makes the greatest possible use of domestic manufacturers' capacity, he said.
