Addressing the parliament on Tuesday, Zangeneh emphasized: "These two industries (oil and gas) have developed dramatically under the Islamic Republic and the work that has been done during this time. The most important things has been done in South Pars. The average daily gas production in South Pars in 2005 was 140 million cubic meters, which in 2013 reached 280 million cubic meters per day and now has reached 700 million cubic meters, which means that the production of this joint gas field has increased 2.5 times in the last seven years.”

He said: "South Pars gas production capacity has increased by an average of 420 million cubic meters per day in these seven years, which is equivalent to 2.6 million barrels of oil, and if we wanted to supply this amount of fuel by building a refinery, we must have built 10 refineries with 260,000 barrels of processing capacity.”

Zangeneh said that the 1,000-kilometer Goreh-Jask pipeline is being built with the aim of diversifying the country's export terminals, which, God willing, will be completed by the end of this year and can transfer one million barrels of crude oil from Goreh to Jask.

Zangeneh said Iran’s petrochemical production in 1996 was 12 million tons, in 2013, 56 million tons and in 2017 reached 66.4 tons and it will reach 133 million tons by 2025.

He added: "In other words, petrochemical production was $2 billion in 1996, which reached $11 billion in 2013 and $15 billion in 2019, and will reach $25 billion by 2025. This year, 17 projects with a capacity of 25 million tons will be put into operation, which is a leap and has also been considered by the Supreme Leader.”
