1st Phase of Oil Transfer Facilities in Western Karun Cluster Officially Launched

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The first phase of the oil transfer chain of the West Karun fields with a daily delivery capacity 460,000 barrels of heavy crude oil and 254,000 barrels of light crude oil to export terminals was officially launched on Thursday.

The project of pipelines and ancillary facilities for oil transfer in the West Karun fields cluster was launched on Thursday, August 13, 2020, in the presence of Farrokh Alikhani, production deputy of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Touraj Dehghani, CEO of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC), and Jahangir Purhang, CEO of Arvandan Oil and Gas Company.

The starting point of the transmission route in this project is the West Karun pumping station and the middle point is the Omidieh pumping station, and Bahregan and Jask terminals are located at the end of the transmission chain.

It is important to note that more than 90% of the manpower employed in completing this project were local forces from Khuzestan province, southwestern Iran.

With the development of Phase 2 of this project, which is currently underway, capacity will be created to transfer more than one million barrels of crude oil from West Karun cluster to export terminals.
