Ali Vatani said on Sunday that 6% of the global energy output was consumed in the petrochemical industry in 2014, adding the total value of petrochemicals produced globally stood at over $3,200 billion.
He said technical development was one of the ways to address production bottlenecks in the petrochemical industry, adding the share of petrochemical industries of gas needed to be enhanced in Iran given the value added produced by the sector.
“Gas is not just used for burning and if introduced to the petrochemical industry can generate so much value added,” he said.
