Plant Eyes Diversified Output Soon

TEHRAN (Shana) – Iran’s Tondguyan Petrochemical Company is planning for diversification of its polyethylene terephthalate chain output as one of its key priorities in the near future.

The company announced that it had set new records for production of polyethylene terephthalate chain products since the beginning of the current calendar year, which began on March 21, reaching a record production of about 110,000 tonnes in the month of Mehr (the seventh month in the Iranian calendar from September 23 to October 22), the National Petrochemical Company (NPC) reported.

In addition to increasing output, diversifying the production mix of polyethylene terephthalate chain products is one of the key priorities of this petrochemical company, as Seyed Reza Ghasemi Shahri, the CEO of the plant, put it, producing new and varied items in the polyethylene terephthalate products will be realized in the near future.

Tondguyan Petrochemical Company needs about 470,000 tons of paraxylene as feedstock annually, which, given the increase in productivity of Noori Petrochemical Plant, the company will have no concerns to fulfill its need for feedstock.

Tondguyan Petrochemical Company, as the largest and only producer of PET in the petrochemical industry of the country, has an annual production capacity of more than 1.58 million tons of various items including various grades of PET.

Polyethylene terephthalate chain items are one of the most important polyesters used in the production of synthetic fibers and cotton for the textile industry, the production of drink bottles, cans and containers used in the food packaging, pharmaceutical, sanitary and plastic film industries.
