Ilam Petchem Plant Eyes €10m Saving by Launching Sulfur Recovery Unit

TEHRAN (Shana) – Inauguration of the sulfur recovery unit of Ilam Petrochemical Plant by tapping domestic savvy will save the country 10 million Euros in expenses.

A memorandum of understanding on engineering design and supply of equipment, materials and goods and manufacturing, installation and commissioning of sulfur recovery unit and granular sulfur with the annual capacity of 8815 tons was signed between Ilam Petrochemical Company and Noorhan Sanat Co. based on Claus Process and by using the technical savvy of the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI).

A ceremony was held to sign the document in which Rasoul Ashrafzadeh, managing director of Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group, said: "The technology is owned by the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry and after implementing this project due to the holding’s policy of maximizing the use of indigenous knowledge and the use of Iranian licenses, the technology will be exploited in other units as well."

The CEO of Iranian Investment Petrochemical Group Company emphasized that implementation of the project would save €10 million in foreign exchange for the plant by tapping local resources.
