Iran, Iraq Discuss Energy Ties, Market Developments

TEHRAN, July 30 (Shana) – Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh met with his Iraqi opposite number to discuss recent energy agreements between the two OPEC members and the latest market updates.

Zangeneh received Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi in his Tehran office on Sunday to discuss recent oil market developments and cooperation in energy grounds.

“We (Iran and Iraq) enjoy favorable cooperation in international and bilateral fields,” said Zangeneh during the meeting, adding the two neighbors can enhance their relations.

He also referred to the visit of an Iranian delegation to Baghdad in February, saying, “Promising agreements were reached during the visit and today we intent to follow up on them.”

The official further added that the recent oil market developments were also considered during his meeting with the Iraqi official.

For his part, Jabbar Ali Hussein Al-Luiebi described Tehran-Baghdad relations as close, adding the two countries enjoy full cooperation in various arenas including the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).
