Leap in Desalination Capacity of NISOC under Rouhani

TEHRAN, Aug 31 (Shana) -- National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC) has dramatically raised its desalination capacity since Iranian President Hassan Rouhani took office in 2013, a report says.

A report released by NISOC says the company has increased its desalination capacity during the years the country was targeted by tough western sanctions.

Since 2013, NISOC has launched, retrofitted or upgraded several desalination units in Rag Sefid II, Masjed Soleyman, Lab Sefid, Ahwaz, Karanj and Parsi oilfields.

Furthermore, the company has launched several projects to gather associated gasses, a pipeline project to deliver oil from Ahwaz in southwestern Iran to Abadan Refinery besides repairing and operating the desalination unit of Mansouri oilfield.

NISOC is currently operating 45 small and massive oilfields in Iran's southern areas. The company is accountable for production of 80% of the country's oil and 16% of its gas output.
