Iran, Azerbaijan Enter Deal for Hydraulic Power Plant Construction

TEHRAN, Aug 31 (Shana) – Spokesman Of the Majlis Energy Committee Assadollah Qarakhani says based on a deal between Iran and Azerbaijan, the two sides will finance construction and maintenance of hydraulic power plant in Marazad and Ordubad.

Qarakhani told Majlis on Wednesday that Aras river is common to Iran and Azerbaijan on which two dams are set up and today part of the river provides the possibility for power generation.

He said formerly Iranian Minister of Energy Hamid Chitchian and his Azeri counterpart had agreed on general of 35 to 50 megawatts of hydraulic energy and set up tunnels for the purpose.

Majlis on Wednesday agreed to the Bill of Agreement between Iran and Azerbaijan for Construction and Exploitation of the Hydraulic Power Plant.
