IRR 1,500b Earmarked for CSR Projects in Khuzestan Province

TEHRAN, Aug 28 (Shana) – A senior official with National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) says a sum of IRR 1,500b has been earmarked for carrying out public benefit and corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects in the regions where upstream energy activities are going on in the southwestern province of Khuzestan.

Speaking to Shana on Sunday, Mohsen Amirian said NIOC has defined several public-benefit projects in the province and is currently busy with arrangements with local officials of the province.

He said the projects are aimed at optimizing the educational, health and sports needs of the local population where oil projects are being carried out and will be fulfilled within the next 2 or 3 years.

Iranian Minister of Petroleum Bijan Zangeneh has highly stressed focusing on CSR activities parallel with carrying out energy projects in the country.

"Social responsibility measures are being seriously pursued by NIOC as it is the right of the local population," Amirian said.

Khuzetan province is home to Yadavaran Field, which is a major oil field in itself and part of the disputed Al-Fakkah Field.
