Gas Injection to Sarajeh Facility Hits 1bcm

TEHRAN, Aug 08 (Shana)—Nearly 1.017 billion cubic meters of natural gas has been injected to Sarajeh gas storage facility, located 40km off central Qom province, since 8 April 2016, a gas distribution official said.

Houshang Mehrdadfar said the facility is fed by 4mcm/d of gas to be used during winter.

Injection of 1.5bcm of natural gas is aimed at the facility before winter, Mehrdadfar added.

He said during the last cold season, the facility was tapped for nearly 1.2bcm of gas to be fed to the national gas trunklines.

He said injection is being done from 8 wells which will increase to 11 wells in the near future.

The facility's turbo-compressors can handle injection of up to 10mcm of gas on a daily basis, the official said.

Sarajeh gas storage facility can store up to 1.5bcm in its first phase and can hold 300mcm of gas in its second phase.

The facility is built near the national gas trunkline to feed it during winter when consumption soars.
