He said that fortunately, the safety personnel in charge were smart and quick enough to prevent spread of fire to other points and sections in the facility.
The official said rubber burning is different from that of hydrocarbon products and is usually coupled with dense smoke. “This is possible, causing concern in society around; I announce that there is no room for concern.”
Amiri said the main cause of the incident cannot be announced yet and all guesses made in websites are not confirmed.
He had earlier announced that the incident had left no fatality.
He said the fire had broken out in the BDSR part and has not disrupted entire activity of the facility.
Narimannejad told Shana that only minor flames are remaining.
"Our important and initial step is fully putting off fire and investigations will then begin on cause of the incident when the fire is fully extinguished," he added.
Also, Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marzieh Shahdaie headed for Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) to verify the inferno in the BDSR section of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company.
Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company is a petrochemical facility in Mahshahr PETZONE and its products are ethane, butane, propane, ethylene, pentane, gasoline pyrolysis, crude residue, xyelens, rafinite, heavy aromatics and Paraxylene (PX). It is the first major producer of petrochemical products in Iran for its high production capacity.
The complex owns three subsidiary companies, namely Bandar Imam Processing Company, Kimia and Besparan.
