Besparan Co. Chief: No Problem with other Depots Around

TEHRAN, Aug 07 (Shana) – Managing Director of Besparan Company, Hassan Neshanzadeh, said on Saturday that no problem has yet been detected in depots in the periphery of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company, so there is no room for concern.

Talking to Shana, Neshanzadeh said fire in the BDSR depot of Bandar Imam petchem facility started at 5 hours in the pm and from the point the products had been assembled.

He said that fortunately, the safety personnel in charge were smart and quick enough to prevent spread of fire to other points and sections in the facility.

He noted that fire is getting put off and it will be totally extinguished in the coming hours. 

The official said rubber burning is different from that of hydrocarbon products and is usually coupled with dense smoke. “This is possible, causing concern in society around; I announce that there is no room for concern.”

Meanwhile, Managing Director of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company Reza Amiri said on Saturday that a panel has begun investigation of cause(s) of fire in Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company’s BDSR unit depot.

Amiri said the main cause of the incident cannot be announced yet and all guesses made in websites are not confirmed.

He said depot contained 4,000 tons of stored products and soon the precise amount of damage will be announced through the media.

He had earlier announced that the incident had left no fatality.

He said the fire had broken out in the BDSR part and has not disrupted entire activity of the facility.

In a related development, Head of the HSE Department at National Petrochemical Company Ali-Reza Narimannejad said on Saturday that fire putting off operation is in its final stage.

Narimannejad told Shana that only minor flames are remaining.

He said fortunately fire has not been spread to other sections.

"Our important and initial step is fully putting off fire and investigations will then begin on cause of the incident when the fire is fully extinguished," he added.

Also, Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Marzieh Shahdaie headed for Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) to verify the inferno in the BDSR section of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company.

Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company is a petrochemical facility in Mahshahr PETZONE and its products are ethane, butane, propane, ethylene, pentane, gasoline pyrolysis, crude residue, xyelens, rafinite, heavy aromatics and Paraxylene (PX). It is the first major producer of petrochemical products in Iran for its high production capacity.

The complex owns three subsidiary companies, namely Bandar Imam Processing Company, Kimia and Besparan.
