“No Threat by Bistoon Fire”

TEHRAN, July 30 (Shana) – Director General of Kermanshah Province Civil Defense Office Kiumars Rashidi said on Saturday that no threat was detected in fire in the storage tank of the Bistoon Petrochemical Company.

Rashidi told Shana, “We are busy surveying likely threats to industries. Management of the facility should find out the weak points to avoid repetition of similar cases.”

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of Civil Defense Organization for Energy Affairs General Motiee said on Saturday that the immediate cause of fire in the storage tank of the Bistoon Petrochemical Company is not yet known and experts studies are underway.

Motiee said investigations are underway for the purpose.

He said in a meeting, attended by Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs Marzieh Shahdaie, directors of Kermanshah Bistoon Petrochemical Company and other provincial officials, necessary explanations were given and it was made clear the forces present in the compound had been skilled enough to contain the fire.

One of the storage tanks of the facility caught fire due to electricity discrepancies on Friday afternoon.

Fire was successfully put off at night.
