SP Gas Output at 530 mcm/day by March 20

Tehran, July 17 (Shana) – Deputy Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company Farrokh Alikhani said on Saturday that South Pars gas production will reach 530 million cubic meters a day by end of this Iranian year of 1395 (to end on March 20, 2017).

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of installation of platform 19A of South Pars, Alikhani said that all 24 phases of South Pars gas field have been either developed or are developing and said development of South Pars phases, the National Iranian Oil Company's (NIOC) plans for completion of the gas production chain, including infrastructures and platforms, pipelines, refinery and drilling, will be met.

He said that over the past few years, two-fold increase was observed in gas recovery from the field. 

He added that daily recovery of natural gas will reach 530 to 540 million cubic meters a day by end of this year.

The official said based on the schedule, this year, six South Pars platforms, namely platforms for phases B17, B18, A19, B19, 20 and 21 will be installation and put into operation and the remaining platforms will be either installed or put into operation by March 20, 2018.

He said for the time being, 20 platforms have been operational in South Pars and by end of this year, five more will be operational.

Once all South Pars phases are developed, 40 platforms will be active and 29 billion cubic meters or 720 million cubic meters a day will be extracted from South Pars gas field.

South Pars gas field holds 14.2 billion cubic meters of in-situ gas, 8% of the total gas reserves of the world and 47 percent of the country's distinguished gas reserves.

There are 19 billion barrels of liquid gas, 7,5 billion crude oil and the highest amount of helium in the field, which reserves a high standing in Iranian national economy in terms of economic value.
