More Supervision Needed on HSE Regulations in Iran: Official

TEHRAN, July 10 (Shana) – Deputy Petroleum Minister in Petrochemical Affairs Marziyeh Shahdaei said the Bou Ali Sian Petrochemical Plant's inferno showed that more supervision is required on how petrochemical plants carry out HSE standards in their activities in Iran.

Speaking in a televised interview, Shahdaei, who is aldo managing director of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), also called on the private sector, which runs most of the Iran's petrochemical sector, to be more careful with HSE measures in their activities so that no such incidents will be the case in the future.

Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant, a subsidiary of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC), was gripped by a raging blaze on Wednesday that was prolonged until the wee hours of Saturday. The fire caused at least €60m on the facility in losses.
