Oil Industry Driving Force of Iran’s Economy: Vice President

TEHRAN, May 10 (Shana) – Oil industry is the driving force of Iran’s economy, Vice President for Executive Affairs Mohammad Shariatmadari said.

When oil revenue decreases, country faces recession, he added.
 
Speaking in a meeting with Iranian investors living abroad, the official praised government foreign policy adding that
removal of oppressive sanctions against Iran was big step forward.
 
Tehran's relation with the world has improved in the post-sanctions era but Iran will not become a market for foreign
commodities, vice president underlined.
 
He said that Iran is keen to cooperate with foreign states on technology transfer.
 
Shariatmadari added that Iran’s oil revenues are now better than the years before and government will continue its efforts to control inflation and to prevent currency crisis.
 
He called for decrease of country’s reliance on oil revenues.
