
Kuwait City - Japan's engineering firm JGC Corp. has received a JPY 70-80 billion ($642-733 million) order to build Chevron Phillips Chemical Co.'s petrochemical plant in Saudi Arabia.
The facility, scheduled to go on stream in 2007, is expected to produce 700,000 tons of styrene monomer a year, making it one of the largest in the industry.
Jubail Chevron Phillips Co., a 50-50 joint venture between a Chevron Phillips Chemical unit and Saudi Industrial Investment Group, will construct the styrene plant in the eastern industrial city of Al Jubail.
