Japan's JGC Wins Order To Build Chevron Phillips Chemical's Plant In Saudi

Kuwait City - Japan's engineering firm JGC Corp. has received a ‏‏JPY 70-80 billion ($642-733 million) order to build Chevron Phillips ‏‏Chemical Co.'s petrochemical plant in Saudi Arabia.

‏The facility, scheduled to go on stream in 2007, is expected to produce 700,000 ‏ ‏tons of styrene monomer a year, making it one of the largest in the industry. Jubail Chevron Phillips Co., a 50-50 joint venture between a Chevron ‏ ‏Phillips Chemical unit and Saudi Industrial Investment Group, will construct ‏‏the styrene plant in the eastern industrial city of Al Jubail.
