Daler Juma made the remarks after meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad in Tehran, where a high-level Tajik delegation is visiting to explore ways to expand imports of Iranian oil products.

“We had a productive meeting with the Iranian oil minister,” Juma said, adding that the delegation's main focus is finding ways to increase imports of petroleum products from Iran, particularly as energy challenges affect countries around the world, including Tajikistan.

The two sides discussed details of potential cooperation, including the types and volumes of oil products Tajikistan needs, he said.

Juma said the volume of imports will depend on logistics and transportation capacity, adding that the issue will be assessed in several stages.

Tajikistan's transport minister, who also heads the joint Iran-Tajikistan cooperation commission, took part in the talks. The sides reviewed transportation and logistics capacity as part of efforts to facilitate potential shipments.

Juma said oil cooperation could become one of the key areas of bilateral ties between Tajikistan and Iran.

“Trade volumes depend on logistics, but I am confident that expanding cooperation and increasing energy trade can have a positive impact on the economic and commercial relations between Iran and Tajikistan,” he said.
