Iran Bracing for Petchem Leap by September

TEHRAN May 27(Shana)--A deputy petroleum minister has said the country shall be expecting a leap in the petrochemical sector shortly after the sanctions are removed in July.

Abbas Shari-Moqaddam, deputy minister of petroleum in petrochemical affairs and head of the National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said once the sanctions are lifted, the country will see its petrochemical sector grow rapidly within a very short period of time.

He said the petrochemical industry of the country is not easy to be targeted by the sanctions and therefore the imposers of the sanctions decided to lift them after Iran clinched an accord with world powers over its nuclear issue.

"The petrochemical feedstock is supplied by the petroleum industry of the country and when the industry was slapped with sanctions there was a problem with feedstock supply in petrochemical plants across the country which caused some troubles," said the official, adding this was while the country had no troubles exporting petrochemicals.
