Malaysia's Petronas has awarded its inaugural sell tender for 500,000-950,000 bbl of Doba crude from Chad for delivery in October or November at the seller's option, West African crude oil sources in London said Friday.

Trader, Vitol was said to have bought the Sep 23-24 loading Doba cargo, at around Dated Brent -200/-180 cts/bbl, sources added, according to Platts. The tender closed on Aug 5 at 0900 hours Malaysian time (0100 GMT), with validity till Aug 7, 1200 GMT. Doba is a heavy sweet crude with an API of 20.9 degrees and 0.09% sulfur, with a product yield of naphtha 0.72%, kerosene 4.31%, gas oil 14.31% and residual oil 80.97%, making it akin to Indonesia's Duri crude. The Doba project is operated by ExxonMobil (40%), Petronas (35%) and ChevronTexaco (25%). From initial production rates of 50,000 b/d, Doba production is expected to increase to 225,000
