Region 1 Director Touraj Rostami said the inspections were carried out across the operational area of the Andimeshk Pipeline Operations Center over 40 days. The project included 21 smart pigging runs covering more than 1,205 kilometers of the national gas transmission network.

In pipeline transportation, pigging is the practice of using pipeline inspection gauges or gadgets, devices generally referred to as pigs or scrapers, to perform various maintenance operations. This is done without stopping the flow of the product in the pipeline.

Rostami said the operation concluded successfully in the final week of the Iranian month of Tir. The inspections were aimed at improving network reliability, accurately assessing pipeline conditions and supporting preventive maintenance planning.

The project was completed through close coordination among operations, dispatching and pipeline operation teams despite extreme summer temperatures in Khuzestan province. Rostami said the work was finished on schedule without operational risks or near-miss incidents and with minimal energy losses, reflecting the expertise and commitment of the region's workforce.

He added that the inspection data will undergo detailed technical analysis to guide preventive maintenance and corrective measures. The findings are expected to strengthen pipeline safety, reduce operational risks, improve network reliability and help ensure the stability of Iran's gas transmission system, particularly during periods of peak demand.
