RIPI Develops New Catalysts

TEHRAN Feb 07(Shana)--Experts at Iran's Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) have succeeded in developing technical knowledge of producing desulphurization catalyst from cutting oil (naphtha and diesel).

An expert at RIPI Ahmad Fazlolahi made the remarks, adding the knowhow has been transferred to Pars Pigment and Catalyst Industries Co for commercialization.

He said that the processes of desulphurization and removal nitrogen are among the most important operations in oil refining processes which are done by using hydrogen catalysts.  

The Research Institute of Petroleum Industry, also known as NIOC-RIPI, is a governmental research institute founded in 1959 in Tehran, Iran and is affiliated with National Iranian Oil Company.

The institute is a major research center in Iran and is the largest of its kind in the Middle East. Throughout the years from its establishment, RIPI underwent many transformations in its research and development activities and has become a major technology provider for Iran’s petroleum industry.
