Nicaragua sees positive momentum in energy talks with Iran

SHANA (Tehran) — Nicaragua's foreign minister said Saturday that his country's negotiations and cooperation with Iran in the energy sector are progressing positively during a meeting with Iran's oil minister.

Speaking on the sidelines of his meeting with Iranian Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad, Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke Whitaker extended condolences over the martyrdom of Iran's late Leader, describing him as a source of inspiration for nations around the world.
Whitaker thanked Paknejad for the meeting and said that although Nicaragua is a small country with limited energy needs, the two nations have maintained constructive negotiations despite the long geographical distance between them.
"The course of our energy consultations with Iran is moving in a positive direction," he said, expressing satisfaction with the ongoing cooperation.
Whitaker also emphasized that peace remains the world's highest priority, acknowledging that achieving it is difficult but describing it as the best path toward a better future.
He said Nicaragua would continue supporting efforts to promote global peace based on respect for national sovereignty and the equality of nations.
Whitaker traveled to Tehran as the representative of the Nicaraguan government to attend ceremonies honoring the martyred leader of Iran's Islamic Revolution. During his visit, he held talks with Paknejad on bilateral cooperation, including in the energy sector.
