NIOPDC eases fueling limits for funeral travel

SHANA (Tehran) — Iran has eased fueling restrictions and allocated additional diesel supplies for intercity buses as part of preparations for the funeral ceremonies of the Martyr Leader, according to the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC).

Speaking to IRIB, Keramat Veis-Karami said 2,000 liters of advance diesel fuel will be loaded onto the smart fuel cards of more than 14,000 intercity buses to support increased passenger transportation during the ceremonies.
He said the list of eligible buses will be provided by the Road Maintenance and Transportation Organization and that the additional allocation will be issued on top of the regular diesel quota loaded onto fleet fuel cards every 15 days.
Veis-Karami said operational fuel quotas for buses will be credited during the first half of Tir (late June to early July), after operating data is received, with the extra 2,000-liter allocation added to the standard quota.
He also announced that restrictions on the use of station smart fuel cards have been eased, while access to personal smart fuel cards has been expanded in 15 provinces.
Under the revised policy, motorists using personal fuel cards can purchase up to 45 liters of gasoline per transaction, with the transaction allowed up to three times. The limit for station fuel cards has also been increased in the same 15 provinces, allowing up to 35 liters of gasoline per transaction.
Veis-Karami urged motorists to use their personal smart fuel cards whenever possible and reserve station cards for drivers who do not yet have a fuel card or are awaiting a replacement.
He added that replacement smart fuel cards can now be issued within 24 hours after an application is submitted.
To reduce congestion at filling stations, Veis-Karami advised travelers to fill their vehicle tanks before departing rather than waiting until they are en route.
He also highlighted the country's compressed natural gas (CNG) capacity, noting that about 4 million dual-fuel vehicles are operating nationwide. He said CNG stations are expected to remain operational during periods of peak electricity demand and urged owners of dual-fuel vehicles to prioritize CNG use to make full use of the country's available fuel infrastructure.
