TEHRAN -- Managing director of Tabriz power plant announced that the plant produced more than 5.2 billion kWh electricity during past Iranian calendar year (ended March 19, 2004).
Ali Baharivand added that Tabriz power plant comprised two production units each with a capacity of 350 megawatt hours.
"Gross power generation by the power plant exceeded 5,200 million kWh electricity last year. About one billion kWh of the figure was used by the plant while electricity contributed to cross-country grid netted more than 4.2 billion kWh," he said.
Baharivand said the power plant started using gas fuel last year, which is expected to reduce air pollution in Tabriz by 20 percent.
"Before conversion, the plant used mazut as fuel. It now operates on gas during eight months and uses mazut during the remaining four months," he said.
