Pigging involves sending a device, or "pig," through the pipeline to remove accumulated deposits from the inner walls. Ramin Nik-Kholq, manager of the 10th Gas Transmission Operations region, stated that this regular maintenance is crucial for ensuring the stability of gas transmission and enhancing the safety of the network.
The pigging program for gas pipelines adheres to guidelines set by the National Iranian Gas Company's Transmission Coordination and Supervision Department. This year's operation on National Gas Line 7, specifically within the third section spanning the Lamerd county, was executed in coordination with the National Gas Company's dispatching, the 6th Gas Transmission Operations region, and the efforts of pipeline operation center staff.
Nik-Kholq emphasized that the pigging process plays a significant role in boosting efficiency, improving safety, and maintaining the stability of the gas transmission network, highlighting its importance in pipeline upkeep.
