Three South Pars platforms resume production

SHANA (Tehran) – Three offshore platforms in Iran’s South Pars gas field resumed production following disruptions caused by the Third Imposed War, according to the CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company.

CEO Touraj Dehqani said efforts to restore gas production and processing capacity at the shared South Pars field are progressing steadily, supported by the technical expertise of the oil industry workforce, integrated production management and the maximum use of available facilities.

Dehqani said attacks by Israel and the United States on several South Pars refining facilities temporarily limited part of the gas reception and processing capacity along the Bushehr Province coastline. As a result, several offshore platforms linked to the affected refineries were forced to suspend production despite remaining fully operational and sustaining no damage to their offshore installations. The shutdowns occurred because onshore facilities were unable to receive and process the produced gas.

He said technical and operational measures implemented in downstream sectors, along with the increased use of capacity at active refineries, created conditions for processing part of the gas produced by these platforms. Consequently, three offshore platforms have now returned to service.

According to Dehqani, gas produced from the restored platforms is being redirected to other gas refineries in the region through coordination with downstream operators. The move is intended to maximize production from the South Pars field while supporting refinery feedstock supply and helping maintain stability in Iran’s national gas network.

He described the return of the platforms as evidence of the oil and gas industry’s operational flexibility, technical capability and effective coordination. Efforts to restore maximum production and processing capacity at South Pars remain underway, he added.

Dehqani also said reconstruction work at the Phase 14 refinery is continuing at full speed, while debris removal and recovery operations at other damaged facilities are progressing without interruption. South Pars currently supplies more than 70% of Iran’s natural gas demand.
