Gov't focuses on fuel consumption reform

SHANA (Tehran) - Government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani said Tuesday that no official figures or decisions have been announced regarding fuel price increases, stressing that the administration’s main approach is to reform fuel consumption patterns.

Speaking at a weekly news conference, Mohajerani said the government remains committed to transparency in discussing economic realities with the public.
Referring to concerns about a possible gasoline price hike, she said Iran’s daily gasoline production capacity is about 100 million liters, all of which is supplied to consumers, adding that consumption management is therefore essential.
“The government’s approach is to reform consumption patterns through structural reforms,” she said.
Mohajerani acknowledged that the recent war caused damage, saying the effects were visible to the public and could not be denied. She added that the administration would continue sharing both economic realities and policy assessments openly with citizens.
She emphasized that the government remains committed to expert analysis, scenario evaluation and transparency, adding that President Masoud Pezeshkian has consistently spoken candidly about the country’s challenges.
Mohajerani said no specific proposal or figure regarding fuel price increases has yet been officially discussed, but managing gasoline consumption remains a key issue for policymakers.
The spokesperson also announced the inauguration of a 130-megawatt power plant project at the Paveh methanol complex, describing it as an important step toward cleaner energy development. She added that Iran’s solar power generation capacity is expected to exceed 5,000 megawatts by the end of the summer.
