TEHRAN Mar 4 (Shana): Jam petrochemical complex as the biggest producer of olefin in the world, is producing petrochemical products above its nameplate capacity.

Jam petrochemical complex’s managing director, Mostafa Mortazavi, made the above remarks in an interview with Shana adding during the past weeks polymer units and high density polyethylene units of the complex succeeded to increase their output respecitvely by 11 percent and 20 percent (equivalent 45 tons per hour) above the installed capacity.

Expressing satisfaction with the process of using potential capacity of the complex during first 11 months of the Iranian calendar year, the official said: Different units of Jam petrochemical complex are working with production capacity of 1.321 million tons of ethylene, 400 thousand tons of propylene, 40 thousand tons of Pyrolysis gasoline, 32 thousand tons of fuel oil, 300 thousand tons of high density and low density of polyethylenes and 100 thousand tons of butadiene.

‘The complex is able to produce different petrochemicals depending on the amount of feedstock it takes and sometimes has succeeded to go beyond the nominal capacity, the official noted.

Production capacity of the complex stands at three million tons per year valued at two billion dollars. The complex exports 60 percent of its products while the remaining 40 percent being consumed domestically by the downstream industries.

Part of the Ethylene produced by the company as an intermediary product and all the butadiene produced by the company are being exported while polymers and Pyrolysis gasoline are the other potential exports of the complex.

The value of domestic sales hit 800 million dollars this Iranian year of which a part was sold through commodity exchange and another part was sold directly to customers.
