Aghajari to become new gas hub in south oil region

SHANA (Tehran) – The managing director of the National Iranian South Oil Company said the Aghajari Oil and Gas Production Company will become a gas hub in the south oil region in the near future. He said the company met all its oil and gas production commitments last year despite two wars and the size and dispersion of its facilities.

Ramin Hatami spoke Sunday at a five-year forecast meeting for the productivity of Aghajari’s oil and gas wells, according to the Aghajari Oil and Gas Production Co. Hatami said the National Iranian South Oil Company never halted production, refinery supply or export operations during difficult and critical conditions. He attributed the success to the perseverance and presence of the oil industry’s workforce.

Hatami emphasized the company’s strong production record, adding that despite the age of its reservoirs, the company recorded the highest production share among its operating subsidiaries. Gas injection into oil fields also improved compared with the previous year.

The managing director noted the company’s large gas reserves, saying officials aim through proper planning to make the company a natural gas hub for the south oil region and a key contributor to the country’s gas production portfolio.

Hatami also stressed the need to address environmental requirements, particularly speeding up projects to capture flare gas. Those projects are underway with significant physical progress at the Aghajari company, he said.
