Acceleration of operations at Azadegan Oil Field megaproject

SHANA (Tehran) - The CEO of PEDEC emphasized prioritization in the country’s largest shared oil field and stressed the importance of sustaining and accelerating development activities at the Azadegan field.

He said rapid organization and agile structures within Dasht Azadegan Arvand Company are essential.
According to the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company, the first coordination meeting to launch integrated development operations at the shared Azadegan field was held with representatives from the client — the National Iranian Oil Co. and PEDEC — and representatives of Dasht Azadegan Arvand Co., the project contractor. The meeting aimed to align efforts for starting development operations and integrating the field under the IPC contract framework.
The strategic importance of the Azadegan oil field, as Iran’s largest shared oil field, has placed increasing production from the field high on the agenda of the Oil Ministry and the National Iranian Oil Co.
Based on announced plans, production is targeted to reach 550,000 barrels per day.
At the meeting, Farrokh Alikhani, director of integrated planning and deputy chairman of the National Iranian Oil Co., outlined the project’s significance and reiterated the emphasis placed on it by the oil minister and the company’s CEO.
He noted that the presence of two main board members of the National Iranian Oil Co. in the Joint Management Committee reflects the project’s importance for both the ministry and the country.
Nasrollah Zarei, CEO of PEDEC, also stressed the need to focus on priorities in the country’s largest shared oil field and highlighted the importance of continuing and accelerating development activities. He said rapid organization, agile structures within Dasht Azadegan Arvand Co. as the contractor, and the use of modern methods and technologies are essential.
He also underscored the need to develop a comprehensive environmental protection strategy. Representatives of Dasht Azadegan Arvand Co. expressed full readiness to implement the contract’s provisions.
