Gov’t, private sector align to support petchem industries

SHANA (Tehran) — Iran’s National Petrochemical Company, aiming to manage the market, is facilitating the supply of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) to downstream industries with the cooperation of Persian Gulf Holding, the banking system and private sector companies.

According to NPC, Hassan Abbaszadeh, managing director of the NPC, met Saturday with a group of managers from major domestic consumers of PET to discuss ways to meet market demand for the product, according to the company.

During the meeting, Amir-Abbas Mahdavi-Mehr, managing director of Persian Gulf Trade and Industry Company, outlined solutions and methods for supplying PET to industries. Banking system officials and managers of companies that consume the product also shared their views.

The meeting concluded with an agreement that the NPC, as the government’s representative, would pursue mechanisms and methods for meeting industrial needs through the relevant authorities.
