Minister: Attacks managed, conservation urged

SHANA (Tehran) - Oil minister said the country successfully managed the situation after two “cowardly attacks” by Zionist-American forces on national energy facilities, and he urged continued conservation of fuel and other energy carriers.

Mohsen Paknejad, extending congratulations for the new year and Eid al‑Fitr, said the two attacks on March 5 and March 16 targeted the nation’s energy infrastructure. He said fuel distribution required precise management in the aftermath.
According to the minister, rapid action by staff helped prevent major fuel shortages in Tehran and the northern provinces. He said short‑, mid‑ and long‑term measures are in place and are expected to fully resolve the situation.
Attack on Assaluyeh Gas Facilities
Paknejad said the second strike hit gas processing facilities in Assaluyeh, calling it a violation of all international laws and protocols and alleging it was intended to pressure civilians.
He said part of the gas processing infrastructure was damaged, affecting production levels, and emphasized the need for strict oversight along the entire production and consumption chain for energy carriers.
Paknejad asked the public to continue conserving gas, electricity, gasoline and other fuels.
Return of the 30‑Liter Daily Fuel Cap
The minister said planning has been completed for the upcoming holiday period and expressed hope that travelers and residents would not face major fuel shortages.
He said authorities are implementing additional mid‑ and long‑term measures to ensure efficient fuel management and minimize challenges for the public.
Paknejad said the attacks were intended to create hardship for citizens, but the government had managed the situation. He noted that part of the response includes reinstating a 30‑liter daily fuel limit for personal fuel cards and a 10‑liter limit for station‑issued cards. He added that, based on his conversations with the public, these measures have not caused significant issues.
