In a Nowruz message delivered March 20, he called the holiday “a new beginning in our culture and country.”
He began by offering condolences for the martyrdom of Iran’s leader and several public servants.
Pezeshkian said the traditional New Year’s prayer asks God to improve people’s condition and guide their hearts “toward His path.”
Nowruz as a New Beginning
He noted that two major events coincide this year: Nowruz and Eid al‑Fitr. He said Nowruz has long been viewed as a fresh start and urged Iranians to set aside grievances and divisions, adding that unity and national cohesion are especially needed this year.
He called on citizens to overcome differences and work together to help the country during crises. Pezeshkian described Eid al‑Fitr as a celebration of self‑improvement after a month of fasting.
“Muslim Countries Are Our Brothers”
Pezeshkian said Iran does not seek conflict with Muslim nations and blamed outside adversaries for sowing discord. He criticized false claims by human‑rights advocates and referenced recent attacks that killed senior Iranian officials and 168 children at a school.
He accused Iran’s adversaries of double standards on human rights and said media outlets have repeated untrue statements about Iran’s nuclear intentions. He reiterated that Iran’s leadership has declared nuclear weapons to be religiously forbidden.
“Fasting People Never Emptied the Streets”
Pezeshkian praised Iranians for maintaining public presence during a 20‑day period of conflict, saying the nation stood firm despite attacks aimed at destabilizing the country. He criticized remarks by the US president and said Iranians demonstrated resolve and humanity.
He expressed gratitude to citizens, the Basij, police forces, and volunteers who provided services despite widespread destruction.
Ready to Resolve Issues
The president said Iran considers its neighbors “brothers” and is ready to resolve problems with them. He called for a regional security structure formed by Muslim countries to ensure stability without the involvement of foreign powers.
He said Middle Eastern nations should avoid conflict and rely on cooperation instead, adding that Iran seeks neither regional unrest nor interference in other countries’ internal affairs.
Pezeshkian urged regional governments to avoid portraying Iran as a source of instability, saying Israel is responsible for violence and disruption in the region.
He concluded by emphasizing national unity and said Iran, together with neighboring countries, can build peace, development and economic growth in the region.
