Paknejad: Daily gas production at South Pars hits record 730 mcm

SHANA (Tehran) – Iran’s oil minister said daily gas production at the South Pars joint field reached a record 730 million cubic meters, the highest level since the field began operations.

Mohsen Paknejad, speaking Wednesday at a news conference on the sidelines of the 19th Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission, said the milestone was achieved as Iran continues to expand national gas output under the 14th administration. He said the record was set Tuesday.

According to Pars Oil and Gas Company, the new high in rich gas production was achieved while the field’s offshore facilities were operating under peak load. The company said the performance reflects full readiness of platforms and offshore infrastructure to produce at nominal capacity. It cited real-time monitoring of production indicators, continuous well-behavior analysis, optimization of operating processes, minimized output fluctuations and stabilization of the field’s effective capacity.

The company said reduced emergency shutdowns and improved operational readiness of offshore platforms during this year’s major overhauls played a decisive role. Capacity-boosting programs in development projects, including Phases 13 and 14, as well as infill well drilling, further supported the achievement.

Paknejad said integrated management of wells, subsea pipelines and production platforms ensured close coordination among offshore, refinery and logistics support teams.

Sustaining production at this level will help secure stable gas supplies for residential use, power plants and industries, he said, adding that the record strengthens Iran’s energy security. He attributed the result to improved operational discipline and a more mature support structure at South Pars, and said efforts will continue with a focus on efficiency, reservoir protection and maximum use of domestic capabilities.
