Gholamreza Dehqan-Naserabadi described the Oil Ministry’s performance in collecting flared gas and using private-sector capacity as satisfactory, saying that in the first year of the Seventh Development Plan, the ministry exceeded its target by more than 400 percent — an achievement he called commendable.
He added that because flared gas is among the main sources of environmental pollution, the Oil Ministry has taken effective and strategic measures in this area.
The lawmaker stressed that a serious determination has emerged within the ministry to tap private-sector capabilities in managing and recovering flared gas, calling the move a major step that will undoubtedly prevent the waste of the country’s energy resources.
