Drilling fleet expansion in South Pars joint field

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of Pars Oil and Gas Company announced a more than doubling of the drilling rigs operating in the South Pars joint field, stating: "With the expansion of the drilling fleet and the increase in rigs to 10, the process of boosting the country's gas extraction capacity has been significantly strengthened."

According to Pars Oil and Gas Company, Touraj Dehqani said on Monday during a visit by the oil minister to SPD13A platform in the Persian Gulf and the South Pars Phase 14 refinery that a record level of national gas production has been achieved. "In South Pars, a daily extraction record of 725 million cubic meters of gas has been registered for the first time due to the efforts of the staff – a figure that seemed unbelievable until now," he said.

He added that Pars Oil and Gas Company's approach focuses on sustainable gas extraction. "Considering the intensity of the energy imbalance, we have worked to activate capacities that have the greatest impact in the shortest time. Accordingly, more than 7 million cubic meters have been added to the country's sustainable gas production from our actions in Phase 13 – an amount equivalent to developing a medium-sized gas field under normal conditions," Dehqani said.

The CEO emphasized the special place of South Pars platforms in the country's economy, noting: "The platforms in this field are considered the most distinctive economic sector in terms of economic impact. With proper managerial and technical planning, significant added value can be created in this sector."

Dehqani reported a considerable increase in drilling activities in the South Pars field during the 14th administration, saying: "The number of drilling rigs in this field has increased from four to 10, and 13 wells have been brought on stream during this period."
