Adequate, stable liquid fuel supplied to power plants

SHANA (Tehran) – Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said adequate and stable volumes of liquid fuel have been supplied to power plants to ensure uninterrupted electricity for consumers, while gas deliveries to the plants have also increased.

Paknejad said that since the beginning of the year, a cumulative 3.5 billion cubic meters (123.6 billion cubic feet) more gas has been delivered to power plants. He added that liquid fuel has also been provided in sufficient and stable volumes so households do not face electricity shortages and power demand is fully met.

Speaking Monday in a live television interview, Paknejad said the visit offered an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of operational staff and to observe gas production processes firsthand at one of the South Pars platforms.

He said a new daily production record of about 725 million cubic meters (25.6 billion cubic feet) of gas was recently set at South Pars, crediting the “selfless efforts” of workers. Much of the gas required by the residential, commercial and small industrial sectors is supplied from the shared field, he added.

Gas output boosted by repairs at Fajr Jam

Paknejad said two of the eight processing trains at the Fajr Jam gas refinery were damaged during the 12-day war. In less than six months, experts and specialists from the National Iranian Gas Co. and the Fajr Jam refinery restored the units to operation, adding about 12 million to 13 million cubic meters (424 million to 459 million cubic feet) per day to the gas network, he said.

With colder weather increasing the need to manage gas deliveries among consuming sectors, Paknejad said the additional output plays an important role in maintaining the stability of the gas network.

He also referred to Phase 14 of South Pars, saying repairs to a damaged processing train are progressing rapidly and the refinery is expected to return to operation on a short timeline.

Extra gas delivered to power plants

Paknejad reiterated that since the start of the year, power plants have received a cumulative additional 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas, exceeding planned commitments for this period.

Given adjustments in gas deliveries and to ensure continued electricity generation as gas demand rises in residential, commercial and small industrial sectors, he said liquid fuel has been supplied to power plants in adequate and stable volumes to prevent disruptions and fully meet electricity demand.
