The state-owned company posted pre-qualification tenders on its Web site for its new 615,000 barrels-a-day refinery after soaring costs derailed a previous tender round. The bids, for submission on July 3, will include engineering, procurement and construction contracts for crude processing units, storage tanks, marine facilities and off site work, KPC said.
Kuwait Petroleum doubled the budget for the refinery to $12 billion May 8 after first round of bids were more than the $6.4 billion budgeted by the state-owned Kuwait Petroleum Corp. The tender was canceled in February this year because offers exceeded initial budget estimates.
