Isfahan Water Treatment Plant near Completion

TEHRAN -- A large water treatment plant will soon become operational in Isfahan.

Announcing this, Energy Minister Parviz Fattah stated that the plant, the largest of its kind in the Middle East, will be launched within the next five months.

According to the Persian daily ’Iran’ on Wednesday, he said that the plant, which is equipped with advanced machinery, is located in Baba Ali neighborhood of Isfahan’s Zarrinshahr City.

Meanwhile, head of provincial Water and Sewage Department stated that Isfahan wastewater treatment networks cover 55 percent of the provincial population.

Mohammad Reza Fakhraei stressed that considerable amount of budget is needed to bring the remaining 45 percent under cover.

He acknowledged that Zayandehroud River is being polluted as a result of wastewater discharged from Isfahan dilapidated sewerage canals.

The official undefined that dilapidation of Isfahan sewage canals and networks is a source of concern.
