A Refinery and 4 Petrochemical Plants to Be Built in Kerman

TEHRAN – The Cabinet has approved construction of a refinery and four petrochemical plants in Kerman province.

The Management and Planning Organization magazine announced that in its session dated May 4, the cabinet rubberstamped the plan and the Ministry of Petroleum was missioned to supply 1.8 million tons ethylene gas for the gas pipeline and also to supply feedstock and construct four petrochemical plants in the province.

The plants include PVC plant in Jiroft with production capacity of 600,000 tons, a polyethylene plant in Bam with production capacity of 300,000 tons, a PVC plant in Bardsir with production capacity of 300,000 tons and a PVC plant in Baft with production capacity of 600,000 tons per year. The plants will be built by the private sector from 2011 to 2014.

The Ministry of Petroleum, in coordination with Management and Planning Organization, will supply needed feed for petrochemical plants and will issue permit for construction of the refinery which will be built through private investment. Some 30 percent of the refinery will be owned by the Ministry of Petroleum.
