TEHRAN -- Oil investments would mount to 470 billion dollars in line with the objectives of Iran’s 20-year Outlook Plan, said the deputy oil minister for human resources’ affairs.

Mansour Moazami speaking at the first  International Corrosion Congress at the Olympic Hotel in western Tehran added the studies of Oil Ministry’s Planning Council on strategic plans showed that totally 470 billion dollars would be invested in the sector by the Iranian year 1400 (2021).

Last year’s oil investments stood at 14.7 billion dollars which should be increased according to the Outlook Plan in the coming years, he said.

Moazami expressed hoped yearly investments in upstream and downstream industries would have a 25-30% rise.

Given the surging oil investments, it deemed necessary to manage corrosion to cut the over one billion dollar loss inflicted by corrosion on oil industry.

Iranian Corrosion Association (ICA) is hosting the Corrosion/2007; ICA International Congress (ICIC) -- the first ICA International Corrosion Congress and 10th National Corrosion Congress at the Olympic Hotel.

The secretary of congress told reporters said the meet aimed at discuss corrosion and related achievements and to establish ties between domestic and foreign corrosion experts.

Bijan Kermani added giant industrial companies from 16 states had attended the congress.

Iranian Corrosion Association was founded in 1992 and had so far hosted nine national congresses.

The ICIC will be followed by a series of practical workshops on May 16 and 17.

Hereunder come the topics of the congress:
