Tehran Gas Stations Ready to Operate with Smart Card

TEHRAN – Head of Tehran’s National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company here Tuesday announced that all stations of Tehran and its suburbs excluding Karaj and Savojbolagh were ready to supply gasoline with fuel smart card as of Wednesday, May 16.

Morteza Zaghi made the statement in his talks with PIN and said, “To make sure about the appropriate performance of fuel smart card system, all service stations – 167 filling stations – of Tehran and suburban areas excluding Karaj and Sovojbolagh will supply petrol by smart cards, as well.”

He added the main reason behind the decision was to make further arrangements for the running of smart card system as of due time, May 22.  

“According to the cabinet’s decision and Petroleum Ministry’s order, the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) is duty-bound to fully put the national fuel smart card plan into action from May 22,” said Zaghi.

He noted that there would be no limitation on volume of gasoline until the rationing of commodity was officially announced.
