Oman"s Oil Minister Mohammad bin Hamad al Rumhy has said a proposed oil refinery and petrochemical complex on the sultanate"s south east coast could cost over $7bn to develop, reported Reuters.

It is anticipated the refinery would have a capacity of up to 300,000 barrels per day. Oman currently has two state owned refineries, the Oman Refinery Company with a capacity of 106,000 bpd and the 116,400 bpd Sohar Refinery Company.
