Optimization of equipment to sustain South Pars gas production

SHANA (Tehran) – The deputy director of production and operations at Pars Oil and Gas Company said a redesign and replacement of a choke valve cage on one of Phase 19 wells in the South Pars joint field has been completed successfully as part of efforts to sustain gas output.

According to the company, Ali Mir said the project was carried out by Pars Oil and Gas specialists to extend reservoir life and stabilize production. The work involved redesigning and replacing the choke valve cage on a well at platform SPD19B.

Mir said the operation boosted gas output by 30 million cubic feet from platforms 19A and 19B. He added that replacing the choke valve cage on the 19B platform well and compensating for pressure loss increased the average daily production from both platforms.

Given the success and importance of the project in optimizing well productivity, similar redesigns are planned for other wells across South Pars platforms, he said.
