TEHRAN – Ilam Petrochemical Complex is to be established to create more jobs and added value in the region and high density polyethylene plant of the complex has thus far progressed 89.99 percent.
The 13th olefin plant, which is being constructed 18 km northwest of Ilam, will start producing ethylene, propylene (chemical and polymer grades), high density polyethylene, benzene pyrolysis, and liquid fuel in 2009.
At present, construction of non-industrial complexes related to high density polyethylene plant has progressed 78.57 percent.
Managing director of Ilam Petrochemical Complex had already noted that 700 billion tomans have been allocated to the plant, which will produce 50,000 tons ethylene, 98,000 tons propylene, 138,000 tons benzene pyrolysis, 85,000 tons four-carbon cuts, and 43,000 tons fuel oil per year.
He added that high density polyethylene plant will become operational in the middle of 2008, saying, “About 4,500 people will be employed for installing equipment and about 1,200 direct jobs will be created when the plant goes on-stream.”
The official noted that olefin plant of Ilam Petrochemical Complex can produce 500,000 tons products per year as feedstock for high density polyethylene unit of the complex. The contract for olefin plant of the complex has been signed with Bina Consultant Engineers Company and needed credits for implementing the plan has been estimated at 215 million euros.
