According to Pars Oil and Gas Co., Keyvan Tariqati said Wednesday on the sidelines of the roll-up operation for the WHP1 jacket of the Farzad B gas field development project, that after completing construction, the structure will be loaded out and transported to the maritime border between Iran and Saudi Arabia. It will soon be installed at one of Iran’s most demanding gas fields and will support drilling operations for four production wells.
He said construction of the jacket is a symbol of Iranian engineering capability and the result of the nation’s oil industry expertise. The massive structure, weighing about 2,650 tons with all its components, was designed and built using maximum domestic capacity and in accordance with international standards. The operation was managed by Petropars engineering teams and carried out by the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company.
Tariqati said Iran’s share of the joint Farzad B field with Saudi Arabia is about 75 percent and called the field’s development a strategic step in preventing the loss of shared resources. The field is considered a priority project for the National Iranian Oil Co., and its startup will add 1 billion cubic feet per day to Iran’s natural gas production capacity.
He added that Pars Oil and Gas Co.’s project management and oversight teams are rigorously advancing the project’s engineering, procurement, construction and installation processes to speed up field development, protect national interests and prevent economic losses.
Complex Drilling Operations Underway at Farzad B
Hamidreza Saghafi, CEO of Petropars, also speaking on the sidelines of the roll-up operation, thanked the teams for safely completing the WHP1 jacket installation work at Farzad B. He emphasized the need to accelerate the project, noting that drilling operations at the joint field involve unprecedented complexities for Iran.
Jahangir Pourhang, CEO of the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company, presented a report on the activities carried out to prepare the WHP1 jacket and stressed that the company is using its full capacity to complete the remaining work.
