According to Pars Oil and Gas Company, the roll-up of the jacket for the Farzad B offshore gas platform was completed Wednesday.
With the platform’s structural frame now finished, preparations will soon begin for load-out and offshore installation, paving the way for the start of drilling operations in the field.
The WHP1 platform jacket for the Farzad B field, along with its components, weighs 2,650 metric tons and stands 63 meters tall. It will be installed at a depth of about 7.5 meters in the Persian Gulf, in the shared Farzad B field located on the maritime border between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
The structure was completed after 28,000 person-days of work without any incidents, reflecting strong risk control, safety training and operational commitment by the project’s execution teams. Of the 113,000 inches of planned welding, 75,000 inches have so far been completed at the highest quality standards.
Farzad B, a strategically important shared gas field, lies about 100 kilometers east of Bushehr Province and is jointly owned by Iran and Saudi Arabia. Estimates indicate that given its sizable reserves, development of the field will play a key role in ensuring stable energy supply and reducing Iran’s gas deficit in the coming years.
The Farzad B development contract, under the third generation of buyback agreements, was signed with Petropars. The jacket is being built and prepared for load-out by the Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company.
