Drilling First Oil Well In SP Phases 9, 10 Continues

TEHRAN – “National Iranian Drilling Company as well as the North Drilling Company are capable of developing the project but we could not postpone the project development any longer, therefore, we decided to undertake the drilling operation ourselves,” noted Akbar Torkan, the managing director of Pars Oil and Gas Co.

The official, who was clearly referring to the completion of the South Pars development phases 9 and 10, added that the company would accomplish the task by making use of its drilling derrick dubbed “Sagadrill 1”. Over 1,000 meters of the first explanatory well in the oil field phases 9 and 10, has been drilled already, the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) quoted the Iranian oil official as saying on Sunday. The director of the South Pars oil and gas company had last year commented that two international oil companies, Halliburton and the Oriental Oil Kish had decided to develop the phases 9 and 10, but the American company Halliburton withdrew from the contract in less than one month after conclusion of the agreement and, the Oriental Oil Kish officials were brought up before court on charges of economic corruption.
